I recently moved up here from North Carolina. My daughter has Cystic Fibrosis and got sick within the first month of being back up north. When we called to make and appointment to be seen as soon as possible the earliest we could be seen was 4 days later. Cystic fibrosis is nothing to play around with especially with sickness. Then once I caught what my daughter had I tried to call to be seen and was told he was too busy this week with school physicals forget the fact I can barely swallow and my glands are swollen and have been for the past four days. I couldn't be seen till a week later. I'm not sure how things are prioritized here but I will not even be waiting for the week to be seen I would rather find a physician whom I can actually get into if I'm sick and most importantly if my daughter is sick.

I usually don't take nor have the time to sit down and write reviews, but my latest experience with this office has been frustrating, so here I am. I have only seen Dr. Allen 2 times over the past 7 years and personally think he's a decent Dr, but the ability to get though to a staff member who can schedule an appointment is seriously lacking. About 8 months ago I finally scheduled a wellness exam complete with blood work. Experience was good, but was told that I might want to consider a sleep study to confirm or deny apnea. Well, today I am ready to schedule the sleep study and call the office at 9:57 and no one answers phone. I enter another extension and finally get someone who tells me the person i need to talk with is "rooming" another patient and asks if I can call back in a few minutes. Call back again 16 mins later and phone rings and rings again...this time I know what extension to press to reach someone and she can't schedule appt, but took down all my insurance information (recently changed providers) and ph # and told me someone would call me back once appt had been scheduled. Almost 2'1/2 hours later, still not received call from office so I call back at 1:26 and guess what???....no answer, but answering service picked up and said they were on lunch break and would be back at 1:30. Ok, everyone has to eat, so I call back again at 1:35 and still no answer except answering service who is very helpful and trys to call their back up #, but no one answers! At this point, I am done and call Kishwaukee Medical Associates and within 3 mins have an appt scheduled next Monday with their sleep specialist. I understand Dr Allen's office is short staffed and running odd hours as I'm assuming business is a little slow and based on my experience, I understand why. I am switching Dr's. and my advice, Kishwaukee Medical Associates.

The woman who answers the phone is extremely rude. Who hangs up on people??

This review has been a long time coming. I have been a patient of this office for 5 years. Started out with Dr Shah and didn't like his bedside manner. I now have been seeing DR. Allen for 5 years. I think he is thorough and attentive which is why I put up with what I deal with at this office. My first complaint is every time I call, every time, I am immediately put on hold or the phone just rings off the wall. Only sometimes am I greeted with a friendly voice. There is a crabby woman who answers and should not be working with the public if she dislikes people so much. Second, any time I have a test done requiring results the wait time to get those results is unacceptable. I have to call EVERY single time to get my results. I never get a call from the office giving me my results. Not only do I have to call for results but 95% of the time I am sent to a voicemail to leave a message as to why I'm calling. I do not receive a call back within 24 hours almost every time so I'm left to call again. This same thing happens over and over until I give my complaint to the receptionist who answers the phone. If test results are sent to my doctor on a Monday and it is now Thursday and I have called every day to get answers and no one calls back there is a major problem. Patients should not have to call so many times to get their test results. I gave them all day today to call back and when I finally decide to call......closed until tomorrow. So results arrived Tuesday and now I have to pray that they get in tough with me by Friday. This is unacceptable and if this continues I'll be forced to seek medical treatment elsewhere as a handful of my friends have done for this exact reason. To ad to this, any time I have called needing to be seen asap for an illness I have never been able to get in sooner than 2 days.
