Love this place. So much more than a grocery store. I have moved from the area, but whenever I come visit (every month or so) I always make my way over for either a few items I need or for the awesome salad bar. Always an enjoyable shopping and eating experience.
Four stars are for the variety of items offered/the cafeteria and nothing else.
This place deserves every star out of five for a few reasons; service, cleanliness, and hours of operation. for starters the store is very reasonably priced and while they may be a bit higher than the wal-fart the mark up is well worth it. That brings me to my next point of the great service, it's never a hassle here, the staff is all very friendly and helpful. The next thing I love about this store is he cleanliness, I am writing this review in the bathroom and it smells like the guy before me dropped a load of lovely berries! And finally the hours of operation are phenomenal, with most higher end stores the hours tend to be geared toward those with a typical 9-5 but this store always seems to have its lights on when I get off at 2am! The store is incredibly well maintained and far exceeded all of my hopes when I came to purchase my goods. The icing on the cake and the reason this store truly deserves the 5 star rating is due to the amazing food court they have that has amazing food at super reasonable prices, I could write a whole review about the food court but I digress, all in all this store is my go to for any time or occasion period.
Hy-Vee, you need to work on your employee atmosphere. I shouldn't see employees shuffling back and forth like they have nothing to do, or solemn faced like they hate working there. While I have always been given good service, and every employee that I have asked a question to or struck up a mini-conversation with has been always helpful, you see more on the faces of those behind the scenes.
Happy employees make happy customers and more business.
Very nice staff, and good selection. The bulk food section is great, especially for interesting spices. There are notes for locally produced items, even the local whiskey distillery! And the ability to shop 24 hrs (with some exceptions around Christmas) really can't be beat.
I ordered Thanksgiving dinner on their webpage and I had no issues. The food was ready for pick up upon my arrival. They were very organized even though they had hundreds of orders. It was served in microwavable disposable bowls and everything inside an easy to carry box. The instructions for reheating were printed and easy to follow. Prices were very competitive too!
